Officers responded to a burglary report at 908 Bangor Rd. in Plainfield Township just after 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, Slate Belt Regional Police said.

Upon arrival, officers met with the female resident and allegedly saw a broken window, as well as clothing, shoes, and several other items missing.

The resident reportedly told officers that a former roommate, Eileen P. Appel, had broken into the home and stolen the items and was currently staying at a nearby property on Engler Road.

Officers arrived at Appel’s residence and found the missing items in plain sight after being given permission to enter through the garage.

Appel was unable to prove that the items were hers and was arrested for felony burglary.

She also faces charges for felony criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.

Appel was being held in the Northampton County Prison.
